BIOPRO's new report entiteld "Healthcare Industry 2015: Facts and Figures for Baden-Württemberg" illustrates key figures of Baden-Württemberg's healthcare industry like number of companies, number of employees and taxable turnover for the biotechnology, medical technology and pharmaceutical industry.
In addition, the report highlights key location factors as well as information on company foundations, investments, acquisitions and so forth.

For the first time the economic research institute WifOR determined the national economic operating numbers of the industrial healthcare industry for a project consortium.
This investigation takes as its starting point the commodity-specific delimitation and hence the definition of the healthcare industry on the basis of the national health-economic accounts of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.

Baden-Württemberg attaches great importance to the bioeconomy, i.e. the transition from a fossil-based to a biobased economy.
The recently published report entitled “Bioeconomy – Baden-Württemberg’s way into a sustainable future” provides information on what the bioeconomy is all about, the topics and fields of knowledge that play a role, ongoing projects in Baden-Württemberg and the measures with which the Baden-Württemberg government is supporting the implementation of a biobased economy.

The emerging interdisciplinary field of systems biology is pursuing a completely new approach, namely the description of the dynamic interplay of all the components of a biological system using mathematical models with the aim of obtaining a holistic view of the system under consideration. With its three systems biology centres, Baden-Württemberg is a pioneer in the field in Germany. The research, equipment and study and doctorate options offered by the three centres are presented in the “Systems Biology in Baden-Württemberg” brochure.
